VAT and customs for AliExpress orders to Sweden
For private online purchases of goods from outside the EU, Swedish Customs says import VAT applies. Customs duty depends on the goods, their value and origin. A carrier or other operator may also charge for its service on a particular shipment. See Tullverket’s guide to shopping online for current Swedish import guidance. Tullverket says a separate handling fee applies from 1 November 2026 to goods bought online and dispatched from outside the EU, regardless of value.
Keep the seller’s tax collection, customs assessment and carrier handling as separate questions. A tax line at checkout does not by itself establish that every import step or carrier charge has been settled for the parcel.
Track an AliExpress order in Sweden
After dispatch, check the order’s tracking number and follow the carrier shown for that shipment. You can track a parcel using its number when the order provides a usable tracking ID. Delivery estimates belong to a chosen shipping option; do not read them as a marketplace-wide delivery promise.
If tracking assigns the parcel to PostNord, its import guidance for recipients in Sweden (in Swedish) explains the operator’s process for shipments it handles. PostNord says it sometimes acts as a customs representative; that does not mean it is the last-mile carrier for every AliExpress order.

Confirm the return window, item condition and who pays postage for the specific order.
